Cleo Hill, Sr. Physical Education Building

Cleo Hill, Sr. Physical Education Building is the headquarters for athletics and recreation at Essex County College. Home to the Wolverines, it is a 40,000 square foot facility that includes a gymnasium and fitness center open to all students and staff. Since opening in 1985, the building has undergone some major renovations. These upgrades included new bathrooms, two staff and 4 athletic locker rooms, a refurbished gym floor, and upgrades to the fitness center.

 

Cleo Hill, Sr. Gymnasium

 

Cleo Hill Gymnasium is a multi-purpose venue used for athletic competitions and special events for the college. It is home to the Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs. This 7,000 square foot venue holds a capacity of 3,000. The bleachers seat 2,228. The court was renamed in 2022 in dedication to Cleo Hill Sr., who was an NBA standout and legendary ECC Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director. During his coaching tenure at ECC, Coach Hill compiled a 489-128 record over 24 years.

 

Cleo Hill, Sr. Fitness Center

 

The Cleo Hill Sr. Fitness Center, recently renovated in Fall 2024, offers a range of amenities, including cardio equipment, strength machines, and free weights. It provides a safe and welcoming space for students, faculty, and staff to engage in physical activity and work towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

 

Essex County College West Essex Campus

Address: 730 Bloomfield Ave, West Caldwell NJ

 

Essex County College West Campus is the home location of our men’s and women’s soccer teams! The $60 million dollar campus, which replaced a 1920s-era elementary school building, features a 51,700 square foot school building, a synthetic turf soccer field, outdoor bleachers, restrooms, and outdoor lighting. The campus also includes a 325-car parking garage located right next to the field.

In the Fall 2024 semester, the Essex County men’s and women’s soccer teams played their first-ever collegiate soccer games on the field, with both teams securing victories.
