
Douglas and Kemboi take 1st Place in St. Peter's Meet
Jersey City, NJ - In a much anticipated wait the Wolverines men's and women's cross country teams started their 2023 season at St. Peter's University in Jersey City on Monday afternoon. Both teams would dominate and win the meet! The meet was held in Lincoln Park where the men would run at 5k and the women would run a 3k.
Freshman runner Serena Douglas would be the only female that would be participating in the meet and she did not disappoint. Douglas would take first in the women's 3k with a time of 13.29.
For the men's 5k, five Essex runners would take finish in the top five. Simon Kemboi and Romar scott would take 1st and 2nd place with a timing of 17:03 and 17:08. Sophomore runner Letlotlo Mohubedu would take 4th place with a 17:31 time while in 5th place with a time of 17:52 was sophomore runner, Chris Williams.
The final three males on the Wolverines were Khandale Frue coming in with a time of 17:56, Daniel Barton coming in at 18:56, and Deandre Elliot coming in at 24:18.
The Wolverines next meet is Saturday, October 7th as they participate in NJIT's MET championships located at Branch Brook Park.
